The Piano on the Wall

The chopped up piece of piano on the wall above the sink is a relic from a former time. We used to have an electric piano in the department that was donated at some point in the dim past. This piano had no soundboard, but instead had an electronic pickup inside that put the sound out to a headphone jack. Without that pickup, you could barely hear the piano at all and the pickup was completely broken, so the piano was useless and taking up space in one of our practice rooms. In the spring of 2004, we decided to get rid of it and a student and I took it over to the shop where we dismantled the case and took an abrasive chop saw to it and tore it apart. We saved this one piece and placed on the cabinets as a reminder of the past.
