Volunteer Spotlight: Liz, Pleasant Glade Elementary

Liz, posing next to the PGE Fun Run poster hanging on the fence outside the schoolApril 22–26 is National Volunteer Appreciation Week. Today, we are spotlighting Liz! Liz is a parent volunteer at Pleasant Glade. She is the PTSA president and the volunteer coordinator. She pops popcorn for PBIS winners, runs the student store, organizes a reading buddies program, plans family events like Fall Fest and STEM Night, and coordinates the Giving Tree, an event that provides holiday gifts for families in need. Liz’s husband, Zain, is a software engineer and built the electronic fundraising platform for this year’s Fun Run, so one hundred percent of the proceeds went to Pleasant Glade. Liz is a former kindergarten teacher and loves being around kids. Her favorite thing about volunteering at Pleasant Glade is how much joy she can bring the students. Autumn, the Pleasant Glade assistant principal, says that Liz is dynamite and a huge asset to the school. Thank you, Liz, for all your hard work for the North Thurston Public Schools.
