Margarita stands with two parents outside a schoolEach month we feature a staff member who embodies our 2023-24 district theme, Culture of Kindness. As the NTPS district bilingual liaison, Margarita Dunlap assists families who speak a language other than English at home. Margarita ensures families are supported, making herself readily available even at a moment’s notice. She has helped connect countless families this school year with information and resources, and helps ensure families feel engaged and welcomed to our district!

Tell us about yourself.

I’m a mom of three children, a Belgian Malinois, an orange tabby, and 12 chickens. I served in the Army for 26 years as a human resource specialist and director of information technology. I love hiking, biking, and kayaking in new places every year. I enjoy gardening, yarn crafts, and thrilling movies. I love a challenge and exploring new opportunities with friends and family.

What do you like best about your job?

The best part of my job is making life-changing relationships between our school district and our multilingual families. Every family has a beautiful story and I can always count on the district team to help me find resources when there is a need. My cup is full on a weekly basis.

What does a Culture of Kindness mean to you?

A Culture of Kindness is one where everyone contributes to making everyone successful, even when you must go out of your way to make things happen. It’s a selfless act demonstrated by the entire team.
