Board Meeting Highlights from January 23, 2024

Highlights from the NTPS School Board meeting include:

The Board recognized several NTPS teachers who have become National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs)! These teachers join the community of 128 board certified teachers in our district:

  • Aspen Clontz, Lacey Elementary School
  • Billie Crane, Lakes Elementary School
  • Emily Ehrlich, River Ridge High School
  • Anthony Le, River Ridge High School
  • Cortney Valyan, Lydia Hawk Elementary School

Timberline High School Principal Paul Dean and Activities Coordinator Beth Belisle introduced student leaders, who spoke about their focus on inclusion and building a culture of kindness for the student body. Examples include an after-school event to make hundreds of blankets to donate to those in need and events during finals week to encourage students. This work relates to NTPS Strategic Plan Goal 2: Responsible, Resilient and Empowered Learners, and Goal 4: Continuous Growth—All Students, All Subjects. Student leaders who spoke include:

The Board was updated on access to highly capable services; and career and technical education (CTE), Advanced Placement, and College in the High School courses. Ensuring equitable access and greater opportunity to participate in these courses is the focus of NTPS Strategic Plan Goal 4: Continuous Growth—All Students, All Subjects, Outcome d: Increased participation and proficiency in accelerated, higher-level (e.g., Advanced Placement, Honors), and specialized course options.
