Highlights from the NTPS School Board meeting include:

Incoming Board members Esperanza (Espie) Badillo-Diiorio (District 4) and Michelle Gipson (District 5), along with re-elected Board member Gretchen Maliska (District 1), were sworn in. Learn more about NTPS Board members.

The NTPS Board, NTPS staff, and community members recognized Graeme Sackrison and Dave Newkirk for their service on the School Board. Both have served on the Board since 2015. Thank you, Graeme and Dave!

The Board recognized the Lacey Lamplighters Lions Club's service to the community and North Thurston Public Schools students. Each year, the club donates and delivers hundreds of dictionaries to NTPS 3rd graders. Club members help students become familiar with the dictionary and all the information it offers.

The Board recognized NTPS school psychologists Amanda Crawford and Greg Govan for their 2023 Washington State Association of School Psychologists awards.

Summit Virtual Academy Principal Becky Lee updated the Board on Summit's work on student outcomes during the 2022-23 school year using federal pandemic recovery funding and an ALE Accelerated Unfinished Learning Grant. With this funding:

  • Forty-four students recovered one or more credits.
  • Nine students participated in extended summer credit recovery.
  • Summit issued 62 recovered credits that helped move many students closer to on-time graduation.
