Culture of Kindness Spotlight: Karly Enlow, North Thurston High School
Each month we feature a staff member who embodies our 2023-24 district theme, Culture of Kindness. Karly Enlow is the ASB, Athletics, and Finance Assistant at North Thurston High School.
A longtime district employee, Karly keeps her focus on student success and supporting the NTHS team. NTHS Principal Nick Greenwell says, “Karly is always seen with a smile on her face taking care of students and staff. Despite the challenging nature of her job, she realizes we are here to help students and always keeps that as her focus.”
Tell us about yourself.
I have lived in Olympia my whole life. My husband and I attended elementary, middle, and high school in North Thurston Public Schools. I have been working at North Thurston High School since 2006 and moved to the ASB/Athletic/Finance Office in 2010. One of my teachers, Debbie Lonborg at Timberline High School, told me about a job opening through the high school internship program at Washington Mutual and how I could get credit for working while going to high school. I started at Washington Mutual at the end of my sophomore year and worked there before coming to NTHS.
Working in the ASB/Athletic/Finance Office is very similar to working at a bank in many ways. I enjoy working with students, student athletes, and students in need to help provide them with resources and skills to be successful. Outside of work I like to spend a lot of time with my family and enjoy watching my kids at their activities.
What do you like best about your job?
My job is always changing and extremely busy all year round. It’s a constant flow of activities going on that run through this office to athletics, club activities, dances, etc. I have enjoyed working with parents, students, teachers, coaches, and local businesses.
What does a Culture of Kindness mean to you?
A culture of kindness means being respectful of everyone’s views and opinions in life, knowing that we may not all agree, while trying to keep a calm and inviting environment for everyone.
