Valentines for Veterans & First Responders

Students across the district shared the love this month by participating in our 9th annual Valentines for Veterans & First Responders project! This annual program gives NTPS students an opportunity to demonstrate their gratitude for those who serve our community by making hand-crafted Valentine’s cards. The messages of appreciation and some sweet treats were delivered to Veterans and First Responders in Thurston County this February by our NTPS Military Support Team.

A special shoutout to all the elementary, middle, and high school students who participated in this compassionate project - including those at River Ridge, Komachin, Nisqually, Salish, Horizons, Olympic View, Seven Oaks and more! And a big NTPS thank you to all of our local service members – including those at Lacey Fire, Lacey Police, and military at Joint Base Lewis-McChord!

The Valentines for Veterans program was started locally in 2013 by Lt Governor, then-Congressman, Denny Heck as a way to encourage connection and appreciation among our military and community members in Washington’s 10th district. The program expanded to include recognition for first responders in 2018.
