About Mrs. Fairchild

  • I have been teaching in the North Thurston School District for nine years.  I began teaching classroom music and beginning Orchestra at Evergreen Forest Elementary. This will be my second year at Salish Middle School teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Orchestra.  I will also be teaching Beginning Strings at Lacey Elementary.  I began playing the violin in public school in the fourth grade and have enjoyed making it a life-long skill, performing in local symphonies and in other performance venues, such as improvisation! I have also enjoyed teaching violinists of all ages in a studio from my home.  I am currently working as the Concert Master of the South Puget Sound Community Orchestra, under the direction of Chip Schooler.
I consider it a privilege to help young string players develop their skill on the string instrument of their choice. Being a part of a performing group is an exciting community experience. It is my goal students feel safe, welcome and part of a very special family as a member of Salish Orchestras.
Our class time is spent working on skill development, preparing music for performance, and presenting concerts!  We also celebrate Birthdays and have a Mystery Student moment on Fridays.
Welcome to the Family.  Here's to a very musical 2017-2018 School Year.
