North Thurston Public Schools - Policies & Procedures
The district’s policies and procedures are adopted and set forth by the North Thurston Public Schools Board of Directors. The policies are principles adopted by the board to chart a course of action, while the procedures are the detailed directions that put policy into practice.
Through Policy Governance, the Board of Directors embraces its role by establishing the vision for the District, advocating for public education, and serving its community by adopting Ends Policies and Executive Limitations Policies. Accountability for achieving the goals outlined in the policies is accomplished through monitoring reports which are presented for review, feedback, and approval at Board meetings. The Board's commitment to policy governance is outlined in the Board Member Handbook (PDF).
Further, the Board of Directors has taken an active role in informing the public of their vision through the publication of opinion pieces in The Olympian.
