Highly Capable Program Goals

  • As per Policy 2190 and in accordance with the philosophy to develop the special abilities of students, the district shall offer highly capable services to identified kindergarten through twelfth grade students in order to accelerate learning and enhance instruction.  The framework for such services shall encompass, but not be limited to, the following objectives:
     
    • expansion of academic attainments and intellectual skills;
    • stimulation of intellectual curiosity, independence and responsibility;
    • development of a positive attitude toward self and others; and 
    • development of originality and creativity. 

    COVID-19 - Update on Highly Capable Testing 3.19.2020

    *IMPORTANT*  As you are aware, Govenor Inslee ordered all K-12 schools closed in the State of Washington due to COVID-19. All scheduled highly capable testing during the closure has been cancelled and will be reschedued for a future date. Placement decisions for current grades 5-7 were scheduled to take place on March 26, 2020 but have been postponed to a later date. Rescheduled test sessions and middle school placement decisions will be communicated to families once this information is available.
