Instructional Material Adoption

  • The North Thurston Public Schools seek to adopt instructional materials to meet the learning goals of the District. Quality instructional materials serve as resources essential to effective learning and teaching. Materials are selected to assist students attain the Essential Academic Learning Requirements, Grade Level Expectations, and Standards required by the District and the State of Washington.
District Policy 2311 (PDF) directs the selection and adoption of instructional materials.  Specific procedures for obtaining approval or requesting reconsideration of instructional materials are outlined in District Procedure 2311P (PDF).
Core and supplemental materials are reviewed by the District's Instructional Materials Committee (IMC). The IMC meets six times a year and is composed of teachers, librarians, and community members.
For information regarding materials on the District's approved instructional material list, ask your school's principal or contact Amanda Garcia at (360) 412-4462.
