Professional Biography

  • Welcome to Washington State History! I have been teaching for 14 years – my first 3 were at Miller Junior High in Aberdeen, the last 11 have been at my favorite school, Nisqually! I received my bachelors in Elementary/Middle Level Education from Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. In 2005 I earned my masters degree in education.  I have also taught Leadership, 7th grade Pre-algebra, 7/8 Science, and a handful of other classes.

My dream job is to teach Washington State History and Leadership. I was born in Lacey - I attended Woodland Elementary, Chinook Middle School, and New Century/Rive Ridge High School. My hobbies are hiking, body boarding, snow skiing, camping, reading in my hammock, or working on my hot rod truck, a 1950 Willy's truck. Watch for it in the parking lot on a nice day. (Big thanks to my hubby Justin and his automotive shop 'Automotive Artistry') My favorite things in life are sunny days outside, snowy days outside, purple and silver, caramel machiattos, being with family and friends, and above all else - working with students.

I am happily married and have 1 dog, 1 cat, and approximately 130 seventh graders every year. Teaching runs in my family. My mom was an educational assistant at Chinook, my aunt was a professor at Western Washington Universtiy, 3 of my grandparents were teachers.
