Mr. Brown graduated from North Thurston High School in 1972. He went to work as a furniture maker for a few years and then went on to earn an associate of technical arts degree from Centralia Community college in Civil Engineering Technology in 1977. He worked as a land surveyor for a couple of years and then decided that what he really wanted to do was teach! He received a bachelor’s degree from Washington State University (Go Cougs!) in Industrial Arts in 1981 and went on to earn his masters degree in education from Lesley University in 1991. He started his teaching career at Steilacoom High School teaching classes in woodworking, metal working, drafting and Algebra. He was also an assistant football and track coach as well as the head soccer coach. He moved to Yelm middle school and taught there for nine years before coming to Nisqually Middle School in 1995. He is proud to teach in such a progressive school district with such a dedicated staff. Nisqually Totems are the best!
