How and when can my student get extra help or make things up? I am generally avaialbe to meet with students who need to get additional help, ask questions, and/or make up work before and after school and during 2nd lunch. However, it is a really good idea to let me know you are coming! Student can arrange a day to come after school with me dependent on my calendar. They can also make arrangement through email.
Military Families: I have a page with links specifically for military families. If you are military, please check it out under the "Students and Parents" drop down menu on the left navigation panel. If you know of any other good resources for military families, please let me know.

Ms. Dhamers' Professional Biography
Hi! I'm June Dhamers. I teach 6th through 8th grade math, science and career technical education (CTE) in the North Thurston Public Schools at Aspire Middle School in Lacey, WA. This is my 25th year of teaching, and I am certificated in secondary mathematics and chemistry. This year, as well as teaching, I will also be the Dean of Students for AMS for part of my day.
I received my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Chemistry from Illinois State University. I received my Master's in Business Administration (MBA) and my teaching certificate through St. Martin’s University. I have since received my Certificate in Curriculum Integration and a Brain Research in Education Certificate through the University of Washington. I am an alumnus of the NASA Educational Workshop, and a Teacher Leadership Project (Gates' Grant) recipient. I also hold a National Board Certification in Early Adolescent Mathematics.
In 2004, I was selected to be a part of the NASA Network of Educator Astronaut Teachers. In June, 2004, I spent a week with the ASCAN class and other astronauts at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. I also went to another exclusive conference at Kennedy Space Center in June 2005 to learn more about the space program. I actually got to stand under the actual space shuttle (I even have proof in the form of pictures!). I am honored to be a part of this program, and to help inspire the next generation who will be the first to visit Mars!
I am a member of the National Science Teacher's Association (NSTA), National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), Washington Science and Technology Education Association (WSTEA), and the Association of International Aviation and Aeronautics (AIAA). I have also served on the OSPI State Middle School Math Leadership Team and the OSPI Mathematics Assessment Leadership Team. I was fortunate to have helped develop test items for both the 7th and 10th grade Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL), attend range-finding, data review and content review for the 5th through 10th grade math WASL/MSP/HSPE, and participated in the scoring of both the 7th grade and 10th grade WASL.
For 9 years, I was the lead teacher for the North Thurston Summer School Credit Retrieval Program. I really enjoy this, because not only did I get to keep my math skills sharp by teaching math classes through pre-calculus, but I also enjoyed working with students of all ages and abilities. It was also an online based program, and it was interesting to see how technology and new tools help students learn.
In addition to teaching, I keep busy with various other activities. Last year, I received administrative certification. I also started a new hobby: Ham Radio! I am an Amateur Extra and my call sign is KJ7AWM. I am actively involved in the Olympia Amateur Radio Society (OARS) and volunteer with the Thurston County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (TCARES). Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my own three children (who grew up way too fast!), and my three awesome grandchildren whenever I can!
