New Building for Ignite Family Academy

Demolition on the south portion of the RMAC began in January 2024!

Ignite Family Academy currently maintains a wait list. To help meet the demand for our school, we are excited to be moving into a larger space, likely beginning with the 2025-26 school year.

How many more students will be enrolled?

We anticipate being able to enroll more students when we move into our new space. We will offer spaces to those on our waiting list first.

    Where will Ignite be located?

The new Ignite facility will be in the Raj Manhas Activity Center (RMAC), which is being modernized. The RMAC is just down Sleater-Kinney Road from our current location. View the proposed RMAC modernization drawings on the NTPS Building Our Future webpage.

In addition to a new space for Ignite, the updated facility will also house the Family and Youth Resource Center, South Sound Reading Foundation, and NTPS Student Records. Ignite will have a secure entrance.

    Where is Ignite currently?

We are currently located in the Bower Learning Center, 4111 6th Ave NE, Lacey, which was constructed in 1971 and was originally the North Thurston High School library, salvaged from the campus when it was fully demolished in 1983. It served as a community meeting space and office space and was eventually used as a professional development space until 2021, when it was repurposed into a school environment for the launch of Ignite. The building is named after Frank Bower, the first Principal at North Thurston High School.

Will there be outdoor space for family members to gather while students are in class?

Yes! One of the things that makes Ignite special is how parents and guardians spend time together on campus while students are in class. We will still offer space for one parent/guardian to be in the building during classes and outdoor space for families to gather. Children who are not yet school-age may still come with their parent/guardian and must be supervised at all times. Older children not enrolled at Ignite who wish to come into Ignite will need to complete a volunteer application if they are over the age of 12.
