Art
Students will work on art projects and have lessons around finding their inner artist. Media varies, but creativity is nonstop! Keep an eye out for gallery showings in the hallways!
At Mountain View Art Studio, we are guided by three important principles:
- What do artists do?
- The child is the artist.
- The classroom is the child’s studio.
Student artists come up with their own ideas, execute their art based on technical demonstrations and classroom discussions, give and receive feedback, and reflect on the process of their creation.
They are developing confidence, independence, and creativity, and critical thinking skills -- all while being Fabulous Artists.
We are a Choice-Based art studio
What does this mean?
- Multiple centers happening at once
- Students are given resources, time, skills, and support to make art based off their interests.
- Students think independently, collaborate, and make personally meaningful work.

Library
The Mountain View library is a special place for learning. Students have lessons on research, spend time finding the perfect book, and other activities to help foster learning on their own.

Music
Music is the focus! Singing, basic theory, and even some instrument practice are on the schedule for music specialist time. Listen for the sounds of Mountain View! In class, students learn musical concepts through singing, moving, playing instruments, responding to music, and creating their own songs.
5th graders get the chance to participate in either Band or Orchestra >> as well as spend time with the music specialist.

Physical Education
Students participate as a classroom in Physical Education lessons in the gym, around campus, and on their own at home! During PE Specialist weeks, be sure to dress to move around!
Physical Education provides opportunities for children to exercise their minds, bodies and creativity. Through physical education, children acquire greater problem-solving skills, expand their ways to communicate and develop a better understanding of themselves and others. Research shows that student success in school is enhanced by physical education.
P.E. ROCKS!
