How to Enroll at Summit

  • Students who enroll at Summit Virtual Academy are enrolling in a permanent, online Alternative Learning Experience at North Thurston Public Schools.

    • Once enrolled at SVA, students are expected to remain enrolled for at least a full semester.
    • Student start dates will match the NTPS calendar for Semester 1 and Semester 2 of each school year.
    • If we are full, your student may be placed on a waiting list.

    To proceed with enrollment, please complete BOTH Summit and District enrollment steps below.

    New to NTPS? Make sure you complete district enrollment in Step 2 below. We cannot process your enrollment to Summit until you are fully enrolled in the district.

Step 2 - Enroll in North Thurston Public Schools

  • Are you a currently enrolled NTPS student? You can skip this section!

    Not currently enrolled in North Thurston Public Schools? Complete Parts A & B of the New Student Registration process listed below. BOTH Online Registration & Submission of Paper Documents are required to complete enrollment in our school district. 

    Please note that non-resident students who wish to attend Summit must enroll full-time. Students may not share enrollment with SVA and another school district.

    Part A - Complete the NTPS registration packet

    Important Notes

    • Only a parent/guardian living in the District and at the same residence as the student may enroll the student. 
    • Please provide accurate information. Inaccurate information could place you in jeopardy of legal action.
    • Submitting pre-registration information does not guarantee your student has met the requirements for admittance.
    • If you do not have a computer with internet access, you may visit the Service Center during office hours to use a district-provided computer.

    Kindergarten Cutoff Date

    • 5 years old on or before August 31 makes your child eligible for fall Kindergarten.

    Part B - Submit Required Documents

    • Drop off paper copies of ALL student documents directly to the SVA Registrar at the NTPS District Office (305 College St NE), M-F 7:30 am-3:30 pm.

    Required Documents:

    1. Verification of student's name and age. NTPS will accept a variety of documents for this purpose, including:
    2. Documentation of legal name change if different than the name on the above record.
    3. Medically Verified Immunization Records (Required by Washington State) EXAMPLES:
      • A completed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) signed by a healthcare provider;
      • A CIS filled out by you or another parent/guardian with medical records attached;
      • A CIS printed by a health care provider or school from the Washington State Immunization Information System; OR
      • A CIS printed from MyIR (a free Dept of Health online tool), go to wa.myir.net/register to begin the sign-up process.
    4. Proof of residency One (1) of the following documents:
      • Current lease
      • Recent contract of sale
      • Recent Mortgage statement
      • Recent Utility Bill
    5. Custody agreement/parenting plan/court order if parents are separated or divorced.

    Optional Documents:

    1. Academic records (most recent report card for K-8) (helpful, but optional)
    2. Copy of Individualized Education Program (IEP) / Evaluation Report (ER) (if applicable) (helpful, but optional)
    3. Copy of 504 (if applicable) (helpful, but optional)

Step 3 - Wait to hear back from us!

  • Once the enrollment process is complete, you will receive a confirmation email from us.
