Sign in with your entire NTPS Student log in and enter your student ID for the password. Student ID’s are typically the first five letters of the last name and the first three of their first name.
For example: Katniss Everdeen, student number 0013579, will log on to the Chromebook as follows:
- everdkat (for the username)

If your student isn’t sure what their username or password is, that information can be found in Skyward Family Access. Log into the account, click Student Info in the menu on the left, and copy down the username of their email address (the part before the @) and their Other ID number.

General Frequently Asked Questions
-
How will I know how my student is doing in their classes?
Parents will receive a parent login to monitor the progress of all their students in one place. From the parent account all curriculum, calendar events, assignment due dates, and gradebooks are accessible as well as an internal email system to communicate directly with teachers. It is very important that parents login daily to check for any messages from the teachers and see what work the student has completed or still needs to do. There is also a K12 App that allows you quickly track student progress and contact school staff.
-
How are special education students served?
SVA offers personalized learning for students of all abilities. For a student with a current IEP, a special education case manager will work with the parent and team to review the IEP during the registration process and determine whether IEP goals can be met in this setting and then determine how best to deliver those services.
-
How are highly capable students served at Summit Virtual Academy?
Students of all ability levels can attend SVA! All students in Alternative Learning Experience schools have an Individualized Learning Plan which customizes the courses and learning goals for every student. For highly capable students, this typically means placing students into a course or multiple courses that are above their current grade level, and at the middle school gives students the opportunity to take classes that earn high school credit early.
-
Can a student be enrolled in SVA and also take classes at their neighborhood school?
Yes. Shared enrollment between SVA and our NTPS neighborhood schools is possible. For instance, a student may choose to take orchestra and welding at their local high school while taking math, English, science and social studies at SVA. The maximum total number of classes a student can take is 6. Please note that due to bussing schedules, the parent would need to provide transportation to the neighborhood school for the class periods the student would need to be on campus.
See our Academics page for more information about shared enrollment.
-
Is it possible to just take a couple of classes at SVA and be enrolled with NTPS part-time?
No. All students enrolled at SVA will be full-time NTPS students taking 6 classes. Some of those classes may be with the students neighborhood school, but may not be out of district.
See our Academics page for more information about shared enrollment.
-
Can students participate in sports and extracurricular activities?
Students can participate in Summit activities like virtual clubs, activities, in-person outings, and social-emotional supports. Resident NTPS students may participate in their neighborhood school athletics, extracurricular activities, clubs, and school events. -
Can a student be enrolled in SVA and participate in Running Start?
Yes. Shared enrollment between SVA and Running Start is possible. The plan for which classes would be taken at each school would be determined by the high school counselor to make sure that all graduation requirements are being met.
-
How does attendance work?

-
Can my student receive a diploma from Summit Virtual Academy?

-
How is Summit Virtual Academy different from North Thurston’s Remote Learning during the COVID Pandemic?
“Remote Learning” in NTPS was developed specifically in response to the COVID Pandemic and the need to close school buildings, but still educate our students. While students worked from a home setting, instruction and learning was a continuation of what would typically happen in the classroom if buildings were open. School district adopted curriculum for the traditional classroom was adapted by staff for students to use while working remotely.
SVA is a new Online School option in the district for students who thrive in the online environment and is a robust academic experience that does not try to replicate the traditional classroom experience, but rather provides students access to innovative, interactive, online curriculum designed to be delivered in a virtual learning environment.
-
How is Summit Virtual Academy different from traditional homeschool?
In traditional homeschooling, parents choose the curricula, set the schedule, and hold primary responsibility for instructing their children. Students attending SVA are attending regular public school from the home setting. Like any other public school, the district sets the calendar and daily schedule, chooses the curricula, and district teachers are responsible for instructing students and measuring student achievement.
