A little about me

  • Hey everyone!  My name is Jenna Cariaso and I am stoked to be a Totem with your students!

A little about me-- First and foremost, I am a mother to two fantastic children.  They brighten my day and give me strength and love when I need it most.  I love spending time outdoors with them, be it to explore the woods, walk the beaches, trek a trail, spend time in and on the water, or go camping.  We also love to road trip!  I have had the privilege of going to Yellowstone National Park a year ago, Reno and Las Vegas last winter, Northern CA in July, and around the Olympic Penisula in August.  We spend a lot of time in the mountains, picking mushrooms, sleeping under the stars, and finding new rocks and hills to climb.  We also raise chickens!  Spending time with the chickens is now one of my favorite things to do around the house. :D

Prior to being a teacher, I had a career in banking.  It wasn't my favorite and when I was given the opportunity to do what I truly WANTED to do, I grasped it and ran full-speed.  Now I am happy to be the recipient of four degrees:

    AA in General Education

    AA in Business Administration

    BA in Literature and Education

    MA in Teaching Mathematics

This is my 5th year with NTPS, but my first with Nisqually Middle School.  Despite our current health crises and climate, I am excited to be here and to learn new ways to engage our students through remote learning.

I look forward to when I can meet my classes in person, but for now, I'm more than happy to greet and teach through Zoom.

    Thanks for stopping by!
