My name is Courtney Whiton! I am 25 years old, born and raised in Shelton, WA. I currently live in the Shelton area with my fiance and our two fur babies, Rally (pomeranion mix) and Kobe (purebred german shephard)!
I have been teaching in the Social, Comunication, and Learning Support (SCALS) program for three years, since 2018/2019. I taught at Lakes Elementary during my first year in the program, and am in my second year teaching at Chambers Prairie Elementary! The SCALS program provides special education services and specially designed instruction focusing on student's functional, behavioral, communication, and academic needs. Within this amazing program I am lucky to teach and support grades Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd!
Growing up I played recreational and premier league soccer from the age of 5 through graduation. Now I get to play just for fun locally. Living in the Shelton/Olympia area, I attended schools in the North Thurston district including Lydia Hawk and Seven Oaks Elementary, Nisqually Middle School, and graduating from River Ridge High School in 2013. While attending River Ridge HS I participated in the running start program, earning my Associate's degree from SPSCC in 2013. After earning my Associate's degree in Elementary Education in 2013, I attended Eastern Washington University in Spokane, WA for a year. In 2014 I moved back to Olympia and started at Saint Martin's University where I earned my Bachelor's in Elementary Education and a Bachelor's in Special Education in December 2017. For the remainder of the 2017/2018 school year I taught at Mt. View Elementary in the Shelton School District. I am currently working towards my Master's in Special Education through American College of Education!
My time now is typically spent planning the wedding or working on school, but when I can I also love spending time with friends (camping, cooking, hiking, or just hanging out), time with family at my moms farm (and the cows, chickens, and goats too!), or just relaxing with my fiance!
I encourage all families to contact me regarding any questions, comments, or concerns or to just check-in on their child's experience at any time. Email is the best way to contact me:
