I was born and raised in Quincy, a small town in eastern Washington. After graduation from Quincy High School, I went to Central Washington University. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in History with a minor in Sociology. I moved to Olympia in 2004 and began working at Sizzler. Around that time I decided to become a teacher. However, I could not afford to go back to school. I began working for North Thurston Public Schools as a substitute para-educator in September 2004. In February 2005, I was offered a long term substitute position at Komachin Middle school. The position lasted for the remainder of the school year. The following school year I applied for and received a full time para-educator position at River Ridge High School. After working as a full time para at River Ridge for two years, I attended St. Martins University, to acquire a teaching certificate. I earned a teaching certificate in 2008. That same year I was hired to teach Science at River Ridge High School.
