I earned my bachelor's degree in English Literature from Western Washington University and my Masters in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. I also hold a Reading Specialist certificate through Chapman University.
2020-2021 will be my 13th year in education, and I trust that it will be a year like no other! I started my career teaching 7th and 8th Grade ELA in the Litchfield Elementary School District in Litchfield Park, Arizona. During my 6 years in Arizona, I also taught English as a Second Language and Developmental Reading for Maricopa Community Colleges. I achieved National Boards of Professional Teaching Standards in Middle-Level English Language Arts in 2012. Upon moving back to Washington, I taught freshmen, sophomores, and seniors at Timberline High School. I worked as an Instructional Specialist for ELA and Social Studies for North Thurston Public Schools from 2016-2019. This is my third year at Woodland. I love teaching students of every age and ability, and my greatest professional joy is getting to witness "aha" moments.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, gardening, reading, and spending time with my husband, two sons, and our 9 chickens.
The best way to reach me is via email. I respond within 24 hours and often within the school day.
