I earned my bachelor's degree in English Literature from Western Washington University and my Master's in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. I also hold a Reading Specialist certificate through Chapman University.
I started my career teaching 7th and 8th Grade ELA in the Litchfield Elementary School district in Litchfield Park, Arizona. During my 6 years in Arizona, I also taught ESL and Developmental Reading for Maricopa Community Colleges. I achieved National Boards of Professional Teaching Standards in Middle-Level English Language Arts in 2012. Upon moving back to Washington, I taught freshmen, sophomores, and seniors at Timberline High School. I worked as an Instructional Specialist for ELA and Social Studies for North Thurston Public Schools from 2016-2019. This is my second year at Woodland. Currently, I am also serving as an ELA Fellow with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
