WatchDOGS
  • Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is a national program created by the National Center for Fathering with the goal of increasing the presence of father figures in our schools.

When WatchDogs serve at Olympic View, they spend a part of their day in their student’s class, part of the day playing at recess, and part of the day in other classes, typically working with students in small group or one-on-on.

WatchDogs may serve an entire school day or a portion of a day. However, the first step to becoming a WatchDog is to first get volunteer approved through our school district. The volunteer application is available on our district website. It may take up to two weeks for a volunteer application to be approved. Once you have been notified that your volunteer application has been approved, you may contact Mr. Vannice at rvannice@nthurston.k12.wa.us or call 360-412-4660 at least one week prior to your requested date of service and he will work with you to finalize a service date. Due to variable school schedules, some school days are more available than others for WatchDog service so please have two or three dates in mind when contacting Mr. Vannice.

When you arrive on your service date you will be provided a schedule which will guide you through the day and a hot lunch card for your lunch service if you so wish.
If you have any questions, please call Ron Vannice at 360-412-4660 or email at the above address.

    Thank You!
