Professional Biography
-
I have been in education for 25 years. During that time I have been blessed to serve in many rewarding and challenging roles including teacher, principal, director of professional development, leadership coach and consultant. My classroom experience includes Gifted k-5, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 5th grade and my favorite grade of all, 4th. I hold a k-8 teaching certificate with an endorsement in reading and a Masters Degree in School Administration. Of all the wonderful opportunities I have had to serve in education the most rewarding, inspiring and challenging by far has been, and continues to be my time with students in the classroom.
Philosophy
It can be a difficult thing to put words to the love and hope we hold for our children. This quote says it best for me.
"Deciding to have a child is momentous, it is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside of your body." Elizabeth Stone - Teacher and Author.
It is with great deference and care that embark on my journey with you and your children this year. Together, we can help your child discover and nurture strengths and learn to persevere when thing aren't quite so easy.
Each day I will strive to bring an open mind, and an open heart to our classroom community. All students can learn and I will hold high expectations for your children while providing the encouragement and support students need to reach those expectations. Our classroom environment is an essential component of that support. We will create a safe, caring community where all differences are honored and respected, where we support each other in learning together and where children feel safe to share their thinking and questions.
