Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Other Members of the Ram Community,

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year and the North Thurston High School website! My name is Nick Greenwell, and it is an honor and privilege for me to enter my 7th year as the principal of a school that puts the best interest of all students at the forefront. I can assure you that there is not a better, more committed staff at any school in Washington. Our staff works every day to ensure that all students graduate with the tools they need to pursue the college or career of their choice. The foundation of everything we do is based on building strong student/staff relationships as we strive to help all students meet their potential in all areas.

North Thurston High School was established in 1955, remodeled first in 1983, and the most recent remodel was completed in 2021. Many fantastic additions were made, including modernized classrooms, a new Physical Education/Gym facility, a library, a bus loop, and many others.

Our district theme for the 2023-24 school year is Culture of Kindness. This is especially important this coming year as we continue to help our students and staff build back after Covid disruption. As I have often said, it doesn’t cost anything to be kind, but it can make all the difference for others as well as ourselves. In addition, being kind makes our school and community a better place overall.

North Thurston is truly a comprehensive high school. In addition to our outstanding Core classes, we are fortunate to have outstanding Arts programs, CTE courses, a wide variety of World Language offerings, College in the High School offerings… the list goes on. Our students have access to various challenging course offerings that allow them to grow academically in their chosen areas.

North Thurston is an outstanding place to learn and to teach, and much of this is due to the alumni and community support we receive. Our students have benefitted greatly from the bonds and levies that our voters have passed, in addition to the community support for our athletics, arts, and other academic programs. We stress the importance of our staff, students, and families working together to help students graduate best prepared to reach their goals. Please feel free to call or email if you would like to connect with our administration. As a school community, we are committed to providing a safe, positive environment where every student's success is paramount. Thanks to your help, we look forward to a fantastic 2023-24 school year at NTHS!
