Welcome to fifth grade! My name is Tereza Hemstad and this is my fifth year teaching at Chambers Prairie. Before coming here I spent four years teaching third and fourth grade in the University Place School District. I earned my teaching certification from the Graduate School of University of Washington, Tacoma. I live in Olympia with my husband and two children. My daughter is starting college this year (another Husky!) and my son is in high school. Our busy household also includes a yellow Labrador Retriever and a small flock of chickens. My hobbies include traveling, reading, and doing outdoor things with my family - running, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing, etc. I also enjoy growing fresh fruits and vegetables in our garden.
I am here to show your child that learning can be a fun, rewarding experience. Despite the obvious restrictions of our current situation, we can still grow stronger together, learn new things, support each other, and have fun along the way. I believe that every child can learn at high levels. It is my mission to help my students grow to their fullest potential.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or issues!
While we are learning remotely, my students will be accessing all their lessons, videos, assignments, etc. in my Google Classroom. Please watch the short video below if you need help accessing Google Classroom through Symbaloo from a non-district computer. All of my students will be automatically invited to join my Google Classroom before the start of the school year. To access my Google Classroom, they need to be logged into Google with their user name followed by @stu.nthurston.k12.wa.us. Our live lessons and small groups will take place over Google Meet, which is also directly linked to my Google Classroom.
