Professional Biography

  • This is my second year with the North Thurston Public School District. I am so happy to be at Mt. View Elementary Early Learning Center. Before I became a teacher I was  a paraeducator for 14 years at the Olympia School District . During that time I was able to support many different students with various disabilities. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education and a Special Education endorsement.  At Mt. View Early Learning Center I am the Core Skills Teaching education Program (C-STeP) teacher. C-STeP is a specialized program for children on the autism spectrum. Our focus is on the development of language and communication skills, social skills, self-help and academic skills. An emphasis is placed on maintaining appropriate behavior and developing independent skills through the use of structure. In addition to myself there are two classroom support paraeducators.
My belief is all children are able to learn. My job is to find the way that works best for the child.

At times it is very difficult to find a parking spot. If you prefer, we provide a drop-off system for parents who do not want to park. You will be asked to display a placard in your car that lists your child's name and teacher.  This is a safety precaution and I encourage you to have it displayed where staff can see it. There will be a marker and/or staff member who will guide you  to where you line-up and motion you forward when there is space. Please be courteous and do not pull-up ahead of those who are already waiting in line.
If you choose to walk your child into the building please wait in the lobby until 8:35 or 12.25. At that time you will be greeted by a staff member and your child will be escorted to their classroom, unless you desire to walk them to their classroom.
