Michele Tamanaha

Professional Biography

  • Welcome to first grade!  My name is Michele Tamanaha and I have been teaching primary level children for more than 20 years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Western Washington University and a Master in Teaching degree from City University. I began my career teaching preschool in San Francisco California. I first started teaching elementary school children in the state of Hawaii. I learned so much from being immersed in the Hawaiian culture and working with such a diverse community. My teaching journey then brought me back to my home in Washington State. It's wonderful to be back in the Northwest and contributing to the community that raised me.  I taught at Lacey Elementary School for several years, and I am now teaching at the wonderful Horizons Elementary School!
I love teaching first-graders! I am so lucky to be a part of a positive and friendly learning community here at Horizons. First-graders are so full of excitement and curiosity. I am blessed to be a part of so many children's lives as they learn and grow!
