Professional Biography
-
Welcome to English as a Second Language at Chinook Middle School! My name is Ms. Lee and I teach newcomers to advanced language learners. I strive to create a welcoming environment where English Learners can build confidence and comfort using English. My goal is to honor the rich cultural funds of knowledge our EL students bring to Chinook and work to create bridges between our EL families and the school. Both are key to student success. I’m proud to serve on our district’s Multicultural Advisory Council and received my National Board Certification in English as a New Language in 2017.
I received my Master’s in Teaching (2013) and endorsements from Saint Martin’s University in ESL, ELA and Mid-Level Humanities. Earlier degrees include a Master’s in Business Administration from Seattle University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UW, Seattle. Prior to joining Chinook in 2013 I taught ESL at Saint Martin’s University, served as UW Adjunct Professor in visual communication and worked 15 years in high-tech creative direction and product management.
