I was a teacher-intern at River Ridge during the 2013-14 school year and was hired full time starting the 2014-15 school year. This is my fourth year at River Ridge - this is absolutely where I want to be. I graduated from the St. Martin's University's Secondary Teacher Alternative Route (STAR) program in 2014 and have a Masters in Public Administration from The Evergreen State College and Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Miami University (OH). Prior to St. Martin's, I served as a lobbyist and policy analyst in Olympia working for multiple non-profits and government agencies. While my previous career was engaging and challenging, I transitioned to teaching for more meaningful and rewarding work and to have a more direct impact on kids' lives everyday.I firmly believe in the importance of English Language Arts as a foundation for success in life, whether students are heading directly into the workforce or continuing their education. Reading comprehension, verbal & interpersonal communication and writing are incredibly powerful personal and professional tools for life. I am passionate about working with kids to help them learn, grow and achieve in these key subject areas and capacities.
