Professional Biography

  •    Science is my passion. I feel a stewardship to help young people in their journey to adulthood. I want my students to improve their reading, writing, math, science, and to explore career options. THS is a great school and we want to help your student grow in critical thinking and reasoning, communication in verbal and written formats, and understand/apply the different available technologies effectively and efficiently.
In 1986, I received my teaching certification in secondary education for Biology, Chemistry, and General Science. In 1996, I completed my Master's Degree in Environmental Studies a thesis "Biosolids And The Problem With Cadmium". I have continued to expand my knowledge by working with The Evergreen State College, North West Association for Biomedical Research, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Science Educational Partnership, University of Washington Genome Project, UW (Material Science, Genomics and Physics), Shoreline Community College Amgen Program, GREEN, Eco-Schools, Thurston Conservation District, Department of Fish and Wildlife, and National Wildlife Program. In the summer of 2011 and 2012, I worked with Dr. Ben Simon at The Evergreen State College as a  Murdock Fellow.  I continue working with a Biotech advisory board and have membership with WEA, WSTA, NSTA, AAAS, and Lacy Lamp Lighter Lions.
I look forward to working with your student. It is a pleasure to be a member of the Timberline Community working with students, parents, administrators, and other teachers to help young people grown in our community. Please contact me if there are any concerns or questions.
