Ms. Agren

Professional Biography

  • I grew up around western Washington and graduated from high school in Yelm, Washington. I love to travel and learn how people live around the world. My experiences abroad have given me a deeper understanding of American culture and ways of life, which I hope to share with my students.
I also love gardening, climbing, foraging, cooking, baking, and taking care of my chickens!

I earned my BA from The Evergreen State College in 2005 and my Masters in Teaching from Evergreen in 2007, with endorsements in middle level humanities and secondary social studies. From 2007 to 2008, I taught English as a foreign language at Banghak Middle School in Seoul, South Korea. From 2010 to 2012, I taught oral English and writing as a Peace Corps volunteer at the Chongqing University of Science and Technology in Chongqing, China. I have served as a resident assistant and summer instructor at EF International Language School in Olympia. I have also tutored in a variety of subjects, both as an AVID tutor and a private tutor. I began teaching social studies at Chinook Middle School in the fall of 2013, and I earned my National Board Certification in 2018.

I love teaching, because I get to work with amazing young people and learn more about history and our world every day. Watch an inspiring video that answers the question, “Why study history?”
