Thanks for visiting my website! This is my eighth year teaching at North Thurston High School and I am thrilled to be leading such a vibrant visual art department. This year I will be teaching Drawing, Painting, Pottery & Sculpture, and Hip Hop, Street Art & Social Justice. I’m passionate about giving students the skills and ability to express themselves through the arts. I aspire to create a classroom that revolves around respect, creativity, exploration, and critical awareness.
I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. After graduating from Ballard High School I earned a BA in Fine Arts from Washington State University. I also earned my MA in Teaching from Western Washington University. Before making the move to NTHS I spent a year teaching Drawing and Pottery at Timberline High School here in Lacey.
Above all I value effort and participation in my studio art classes. Having a willingness to try something new, however challenging, is an attitude I always encourage! I have high expectations for all of my students and enjoy helping each of them grow and develop as artists. I also appreciate the support of parents and encourage you to contact me with any questions you may have. Email is the best way to reach me.
