Professional Biography

  • Hello Students! I grew up in New Jersey, on the Jersey Shore in fact, and found my way out to Washington in 2005. I hold a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from Rutgers University, New Brunswick (2004) and an MiT (Master in Teaching) from the Evergreen State College (2009).

I am passionate about student engagement in literature, writing and the arts, always looking for ways to collaborate with colleagues, families and community professionals to provide a broader experience of text for students. Above all, I expect students to be conscientious readers, analyzing and evaluating all texts in the classroom and beyond. I also advise the Write Club, NTHS' Creative Writing Club, co-direct the Fall Musical and co-organize the Spring Arts Showcase.  This year I am excited to announce the return of Poetry Out Loud, a Nationwide Competition focused on poetry recitation and presentation.

I am honored to teach at NTHS, to be a RAM and embody the spirit, responsibility, resilience and care that I see in students everyday.
