    Olympic View Families,

I am the proud Principal at Olympic View Elementary. I look forward to working with all of you this year and for many years to come. This will be my third year at Olympic View, and each and every day, I feel lucky to be an Eagle. One of the many things that I love about our school is the commitment to our students, families, and community. We are all very excited to partner with you in your child's educational journey and are excited to support our Eagles.

As the Principal of Olympic View, I would like you to know a bit more about me. I have two children, Baylor, who is 9, and Beckett, who is 7, and we love to play outside, go on hikes and catch frogs (them mostly) and go on walks with our two dogs. In 2008, I earned my Bachelor of Arts from Western Washington University in Special Education. For 11 years, I worked at Woodland Elementary, where I was a 2nd- and 3rd-grade teacher, a LAP teacher, and a building coach, and for two years, an Assistant Principal.

This year at Olympic View, we will continue to support all students' academic growth and ensure that all students succeed. Walking through the halls, you will see we strive to have all students follow the Eagle Way of being respectful, responsible, safe, and cooperative. As you walk into any of our classrooms, you will see our amazing staff creating a classroom environment where students work together to reach high academic standards, while also having strong bonds with students and staff.

We are excited about this school year, and please reach out if there is anything I can do to support. We are here to serve our OVE community!

From Assistant Principal Duerr

  • Rob DuerrDear Olympic View Community,

It is my honor to serve the Olympic View community as an assistant principal. I will work each day to find the best in all of us and build upon our talents to ensure each and every child succeeds.

I have four children. We enjoy hiking, skiing, and time together playing board games. I am a soccer player and coach. On summer evenings, I may be found nearby at soccer fields coaching for Thurston County United.

I taught for twelve years in Bellevue, Washington, before working for six years as a new teacher, mentor, and instructional coach. I moved to Olympia in 2019, where I worked as an intervention specialist and a Title I coordinator at Seven Oaks Elementary in North Thurston Public Schools. Prior to becoming an Eagle, I was the Assistant Principal at Chambers Prairie.

I am here to help students navigate challenges and build upon their successes. I am committed to seeking solutions that ensure your child’s school experience is affirming, inspiring, joyful, and rigorous. I look forward to our continued work together.
