Extended Closure Update
Dear Lakes Families,
I’ve been thinking about our Lakes students and families a lot during this health crisis.
This is a unique situation in our lifetimes and it is normal to be stressed and anxious about the weeks and months ahead. Sleep, eating, learning, exercise, and all our normal routines have been disrupted, and we have to learn how to navigate the changing landscape of our lives. It will be hard at times and there will be challenges ahead. And through it all, this is an opportunity for us to help our kids build resilience and flexibility, get creative, and learn to manage big feelings.
I want you and your child/ren to know that you are welcome to contact me via email or by phone. I am checking voicemails and can call you or your child back. Our mental health specialist, Ann Robbins is available to meet with students through video conferencing.
Here are some ways I can provide support:
Below are some resources you may find helpful:
- Counseling over phone or email
- Family resources including parenting, family team planning, community resources
- Community therapists that are providing virtual appointments
- Assistance through the North Thurston Education Foundation and the Family Youth Center
Please visit my Google classroom to keep updated on fun brainbreaks, yoga, and SEL lessons for your child. Ask your child's teacher for the class code. Please don’t hesitate to contact me. Be well and keep healthy! With wishes of health and hope,Pam Turlove
