North Thurston Public Schools takes learning seriously - not just for students but adults as well. The District has researched best practices in Professional Development and believes in the National Staff Development Council's mission that:
To increase student learning, effective professional development must be an integral part of the School Improvement Plan and process.
Professional Development offerings are provided to teachers, administrators, Para-educators, substitute teachers and other staff. Academic Collaboration Time (ACT) is regular time set aside for Professional Development. All schools release 75 minutes early on alternating Wednesdays. There is no preschool on early release days. Additionally we have several Teacher Professional Development days throughout the year on Fridays when there is no schools. Schedules available online or on the school calendars.
MyLearningPlan was introduced in 2008 as a resource for providing learning opportunities for District staff. Staff may earn clock hours for participation at workshops.
