Professional Biography

  • As a young child, growing up in Denver Colorado, I dreamed of becoming a teacher.  I moved to Olympia in 1989 to attend The Evergreen State College.  I received my Bachelor's degree from there in 1994.  While there I focused my studies on art, social justice and South American studies.   I spent the next 9 years being a mom.  I decide to go back to Evergreen in 2003 to get my Master's in Teaching.  I am certified as a K-8 general classroom teacher and a K-12 visual arts specialist.  2020/2021 is my 15th year as an art specialist at Horizons.  In 2012 I received my National Board Certification. Photography and fabric arts are my passion, though I also love to paint in oils and sculpt in clay.  I recently had photographs shown at Artswalk in Olympia. I have two sons, Mylo (21 years) and Aaron (25 years).

Please e-mail me if you would like to volunteer in the art room.
