Meet the Assistant Principal, Mrs. Packard

  • As I mentioned below, I have worked with a wide variety of children since the start of my career, including students with special needs, students from high and low-socioeconomic populations, students from military populations, etc. From all of these experiences, I hold true to one simple and definite idea; that is, children learn best when they feel good about themselves. As the Assistant Principal, I will strive to maintain a positive, trusting atmosphere, where children experience a feeling of school community and a sense of closeness with their teacher, classmates and principals. Horizons is a place where students will be supported, challenged, and offered authentic opportunities to learn and develop into successful, independent, intelligent individuals.

I am so excited to get to stay with our Horizons family as the Assistant Principal this year. 2020-2021 is going to be a year like no other, but at Horizons we are in it together, and we will make it great!

Letter from Principal Grygorcewicz

  • Dear Horizons Families,
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year.  Horizons’ staff understands that success at school begins at home. We believe in the importance of a strong home-school partnership; therefore, we ask that you please contact your student’s teacher if you have questions or concerns regarding their progress. My door is always open as well to answer questions, receive feedback, or address concerns.

At Horizons, we work hard to provide a positive, safe and caring environment for all students and staff. We strive to see academic and social growth in every student. A large part of our work this year will be focused on using data to make academic decisions for students. Those students who are identified as needing some added support, will receive additional academic intervention within the school day. Students who are identified as exceeding academic expectations will be provided with extension activities to best meet their needs.
We are proud to be a Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (P.B.I.S.) school. We follow the eagle expectations in all locations of our school to provide a safe, caring and positive environment. Please ask your student to explain the eagle expectations. (Being Safe, Respectful and Responsible) and how they apply throughout the school. Has your student earned an eagle feather?

Communication with our families plays an important role in the success of our students. Our goal is to strengthen our school communication by utilizing a variety of methods. Please visit our school website (, as it is updated frequently.  “Like” us on Facebook (Horizons Elementary School)! We will continue to send home school newsletters, emails, and school messenger calls.

    Go Eagles!
    Nate Grygorcewicz
