I have been teaching in the North Thurston School District for ten years. I began teaching classroom music and beginning Orchestra at Evergreen Forest Elementary. This will be my fourth year at Salish Middle School teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Orchestra. Beginning the fall of 2019, my schedule will also include a Music Appreciation Course. And, included in my teaching day is a class of beginning strings at Lacey Elementary.
I began playing the violin in public school in the fourth grade and have enjoyed making it a life-long skill. I am currently working as the Concertmaster of the South Puget Sound Symphony Orchestra. I have also enjoyed teaching violinists of all ages in a studio from my home.
I consider it a privilege to help young string players develop their skill on the string instrument of their choice. Being a part of a performing group is an exciting community experience. It is my goal students feel safe, welcome and part of a very special family as a member of Salish Orchestras.
Our class time is spent working on skill development and preparing music for performance. We have a busy 2019-2020 Concert Season. Teaching the non-instrumentalist in the Music Appreciation course offers the opportunity to instill the love of music in middle school students. It is a pleasure working with our Salish Middle School students, helping them to discover the joy of music and to learn what they are capable of doing through the use of grit and goal setting.
Welcome to the Salish Orchestra Family. Here's to a very musical 2019-2020 School Year.
