Science at NTPS

  • Students studying in the field. Science education is a critical part of children's education today, just as science is a critical part of today's world. North Thurston Public School's science program is research-based and aligned with the Washington State Learning Standards.

We strive to have all students able to investigate scientifically in order to construct and acquire a conceptual understanding of their worlds, develop positive scientific attitudes, and become scientifically literate. This is accomplished through a collaborative, interactive, rigorous science program responsive to the needs of diverse learners.

Science Standards and State Assessment Information

  • Our state uses the Next Generation Science Standards to align with the Washington State Science Learning Standards. These standards describe what students should know and be able to do and contain correlations to math and English language arts standards. Want more information? Check out the Next Generation Parent Guides broken down by grades (also available in Spanish).

    Assessments

Assessments are designed to help districts, schools, teachers, parents, and students determine the level of proficiency of a student's understanding of the science learning standards. NTPS Assessment Department
