Volunteer Spotlight: Amy at FYRC
Meet Amy, a volunteer at the Family & Youth Resource Center (FYRC)! Besides volunteering weekly in the Kid’s Closet, Amy also hand writes thank you cards to all the FYRC donors, washes all the donated clothes, and sorts and packs school supplies (while watching football at home). Amy is a former educator and volunteered at Horizons Elementary for 8 years. In 2020, she started volunteering at the FYRC, where she helped distribute diapers, laundry detergent, and other hygiene supplies from the trunk of her car. The FYRC staff call Amy “Wanda the Washer” and say that she is their own personal version of Rosie the Riveter. Besides supporting NTPS families, Amy’s favorite thing about volunteering is the friendships she’s made with the other volunteers and staff at the FYRC.
