•  Assignments [30 % of grade]

To get organized, you'll want to have a 3-ring notebook & a composition book. Make sure to bring both to class each day. You'll want a divider (not folders, not pee-chees) for each core class in your notebook.

3-Ring Notebook: ELA section, a space for...
    • Keepers: Class syllabus and notes you want to keep handy
    • Reading Notes: A place to keep your book logs and notes on current reading strategies and novels.
    • Poetry: Keep poems you’ve found or that we’ve analyzed in this section.
    • Extra paper: under 50 sheets... paper with holes...
Journal: A composition book, college ruled, 100 pages minimum

Scoring: To help students and parents see growth and track progress, assignments will be scored on the same scale as assessments. That way if a student earns a 3 on an assignment, it makes a clearer connection between where they are succeeding and the skills they are struggling to master. Assignments will be scored on a rubric of 1-4, with 4 being the highest.
