Student Assistance Professionals

  • The Student Assistance Professional (SAP) is an employee of the Capital Region Educational Service District 113 (CR-ESD113).  North Thurston Public Schools contracts, through Student Support Services, with ESD113 for the services of an SAP in our district high schools.  SAP services may extend to middle school students in the district if the SAP has caseload capacity.

    The Student Assistance Professional (SAP) provides prevention, intervention, treatment, and referral services to students and their families who are impacted by alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use/abuse, and assists in the development of a safe and drug free learning environment for learning and teaching.

    The SAP works in the school district to provide substance abuse prevention, intervention, and treatment services consistent with the True North Program Model which may include the following:

    • Screening Assessments
    • Substance Abuse Education
    • Individual Counseling
    • Group Therapy
    • Family Counseling
    • Urine Testing
    • Case Management
