Homepage & Professional Biography

  • Hello there friends and families. I hope you are all safe, healthy and getting outside to enjoy the sun and the sweet sounds of birds singing! Try to echo them.  Or try to sing back a musical response.

It has been very strange and unusual not to be in the music room with you Bulldogs, but I am excited to begin our end-of-the-year remote learning programs. It may be a bit challenging to navigate at first but remember, this is so new to us all - for teachers, students & parents - so be patient. With yourself and your family.

Where can I find Music Activities?

Music activities were available through the District website for the first few weeks of remote learning (4/13-17, 4/20-24), which were developed by myself and the team of North Thurston elementary music teachers, and hardcopies of activities were distributed at Seven Oaks. Music activities will now be available here, directly on my teacher page, in the left column organized by grade level and week. Hardcopies will still be made available as needed. The activities are intended to be fun and inspiring. Possibly a nice break from other challenging studies. Please don't stress out if you can't get to all of the activities. They're meant to bring you joy.

How can a student or a parent contact you?

During our remote learning through the remainder of this school year I will have daily office hours from 8-10am. During this time I will be able to more readily respond to questions that may arise or be available to simply touch base. Please email me and we can discuss what other remote options are available and what works best for you. Thank you

    Who is "Mr. Scotty"?

I am a musician, a teacher and a dog person. I love hanging out with my family, playing games and eating ice cream. On the weekends I like to tinker on my Volkswagons and play my Ukulele. I have been teaching music and the arts for almost three decades (27 years!) in a variety of classroom settings with a variety of age groups. I'm looking forward to a second amazing year here at Seven Oaks Elementary and having you in my classroom!

Parents: Please email me if you have any questions regarding your child's participation or my Music/Drama/Mindfulness classroom!                                 Happy Music Making!
