Test LocationsAll testing sessions will be held at the DISTRICT OFFICE at 305 College St NE, Lacey, 98516 unless otherwise stated.General Information
- Parents/guardians will be responsible for student transportation.
- If testing occurs during school hours, parents/guardians will be responsible for notifying their students' school of their absence. This absence will be considered a school activity and not count against the student's attendance.
- Specific testing times will be set once the application deadline has passed and the number of applicants is known. Information including test session assignment will be emailed to families as soon after the deadline as possible.
- An alternate test session may be available for students that are unable to test due to an unavoidable circumstance. Please contact the Assessment Office should you need to make alternate arrangements for your student. Alternate test sessions are not available for summer testing.
- If a student is late for a scheduled test session, they may rescheduled for an alternate test session if available. If a student is late to an alternate test session or no alternate test session is available (summer testing), they may be rescheduled to the next testing activity which may summer or the following school year.

Grades K-1 Fall 2022 Test Schedule

Grades 5-7 Winter 2023 Test Schedule
Current Grades 5-7 ♦ Application Deadline January 31, 2023, 12:00pm
Applications submitted after the deadline will be held until the summer testing cycle.
Please note, while this identification process is the surest way for your student to access highly capable services in middle school (if qualified), it is not the only way. In the spring, district staff review the academic records of all current 5th, 6th and 7th graders as well as teacher referrals. Students who meet a rigorous set of criteria will be invited to participate in highly capable classes. This process gives your student another opportunity for potential placement and does not require any additional testing. Invitations from this process are mailed to families typically in June/July.
Phase I - CogAT Complete

If your student has an IEP or 504 Plan with testing accommodations, you will be contacted by phone to schedule an appointment.
Due to group size restrictions and safety protocols in place, we ask that students attend their assigned test session. Should your student be unable to attend their assigned test session due to unavoidable circumstances, please call us at 360-412-4497 to make other arrangements.Students with qualifying CogAT scores will be advanced to the next phase of the assessment process which will include a review of existing academic achievement records and teacher qualitative data.
Note: students being considered for 8th grade accelerated math (high school level Geometry), must have successfully completed an accredited high school level Algebra I course prior to enrollment.For qualified students, services will commence in the 2023-2024 school year. -

For qualified students, services will commence in the 2022-2023 school year.At the high school level, no additional highly capable testing is required to access service options such as Honors, Advanced Placement, College in the High School, and the Running Start Program. (Note: for College in the High School and Running Start, additional testing may be required to determine eligibility and/or placement). Please contact your high school counselor for more information on these options.

Summer 2023 Test Schedule
Students are welcome to participate in highly capable testing once per year calculated from the last testing date. Students who participated during the 2022-2023 school year, are not eligible to participate in summer testing.
