I grew up in Lacey, so much of my youth was spent biking up and down Ruddell Road to buy Jolly Ranchers for a nickel at the Circle K. After school, I moved north and spent a few years working as an instructor and recess monitor in King County private schools. Eventually I would come back to Olympia to complete the Masters in Teaching program at The Evergreen State College. My first few years as a public school teacher were spent with 6th graders doing math, science, and engineering, then I landed a dream gig in 4th grade at South Bay in 2017.
My 6-year-old daughter wants to be a mermaid. My 4-year-old son wants to be a garbage truck. My wife teaches kindergarten down the hall. My dog barks at his reflection in the skylight every night. A very brief list of our favorite things would include: camping, bug hunting, rock collecting, Dirty Dave's, and video games.
Carl Sagan is my hero, so I'll leave you with one of his many inspiring quotes: "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known."
