My name is Matt Stolz, and I teach 4th grade at South Bay Elementary. I am a product of North Thurston Public Schools (Timberline c/o 2000) and the Masters in Teaching program at The Evergreen State College. My first few years of teaching were spent with 6th graders doing math, science, and engineering, then I landed a dream gig in 4th grade at South Bay in 2017.
Carl Sagan and Bill Watterson are my personal heroes. In my free time I enjoy nerdy hobbies like flying drones, fixing computers, reading science fiction, and playing video games. But I'm only a nerd most of the time. When the Washington skies permit, I love camping, disc golf, and hiking the glorious mountains, beaches, and forests of the Pacific Northwest.
I have a 6-year-old daughter that is obsessed with mermaids and unicorns; a 4-year-old son that is obsessed with garbage trucks; a Labrador that is obsessed with anything that fits in his mouth; and a wonderful wife who teaches kindergarten right here at South Bay.
