- Article I – Name, Purpose and Authority
- Section I - Name
- The name of the organization will be the “North Thurston Robotics Club” of the “North Thurston High School.”
- Section II - Purpose and Authority
- This organization will have as its purpose:
- Designing, building, programming and sharing robots;
- To participate in competition-level events, including, but not limited to, FIRST Tech Challenge;
- Build and share professional skills necessary to succeed in STEM-related fields;
- And contributing to our community through service, teaching, leadership and inspiration.
- as directly approved by the student council and indirectly by the school site administrator and the governing board of the North Thurston Public Schools.
- Article II – Membership
- Section I - Enrollment
- Membership in North Thurston Robotics Club is established by:
- Being an enrolled student in a North Thurston Public School or homeschooled within our district’s limits;
- Completing student and parent permission form;
- Supplying enrollment fee totally $200;
- $50 due at at start of enrollment;
- Remaining value reduced by $25 each time student participates in fundraising or outreach event;
- Remaining value due at end of season;
- Bring interest, curiosity and appreciation of robotics and STEM-related activities;
- And while no experience is required to join, a willingness to take risks, fail, and learn new skills is essential.
- Section II - Maintenance
- Membership in North Thurston Robotics Club is maintained by:
- Attending a minimum of one full meeting each week;
- Communicating absences in advance by notifying the coach, team captain, or Secretary with a valid reason such as family or medical emergency, prior commitment, etc.;
- Being productively and fully engaged while present;
- Attending the required study hall portion of weekday meetings;
- And working to help all members raise GPAs to at least 3.0, and to maintain this GPA throughout season.
- Article III – Meetings
- Meetings will be held during the following times in room 205 at North Thurston High School:
- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2pm to 5pm, including a 2pm to 3pm required study hall;
- Saturday from 10am to 2pm.
- Article IV – Club Officers
- The club officers, or leadership team, shall consist of the following:
- President;
- Vice-President;
- Secretary;
- Treasurer;
- And Materials Manager.
- Article V – Duties
- The club president will have the following duties:
- Start meetings of the club;
- Plan and prepare an agenda for the club meetings;
- End meetings with consent of the Materials Manager;
- Call activity period meetings and plan the agenda for those meetings;
- Call special meetings of the club;
- Coordinate poster creation and organize interested members in their production;
- And work with entire leadership team to organize events, including fundraisers, outreach, and competition events
- The club vice-president will have the following duties:
- Serve as the club president if the president becomes unable to fulfill his/her duties either temporarily or permanently;
- Support the club president as an equal partner;
- Manage social media, including school website, club announcements and community communication efforts;
- And work with entire leadership team to organize events, including fundraisers, outreach, and competition events.
- The club secretary will have the following duties:
- Maintain accurate minutes of each club meeting;
- Carry out all correspondence for the club;
- Take attendance each meeting;
- Complete fundraiser paperwork in collaboration with the secretary;
- And work with entire leadership team to organize events, including fundraisers, outreach, and competition events.
- The club treasurer will have the following duties:
- Maintain complete and accurate record of all club receipts and disbursements;
- Oversee club fund-raising efforts;
- Supervise the preparation of the club budget;
- Compiling material order requests in collaboration with the Materials Manager;
- Approve purchases in collaboration with the Materials Manager;
- Complete fundraiser paperwork in collaboration with the secretary;
- And work with entire leadership team to organize events, including fundraisers, outreach, and competition events.
- The Materials Manager will have the following duties:
- Compiling material order requests in collaboration with the treasurer;
- Supervise clean up and direct all club members in those efforts;
- Tell the president materials are cleaned up and meetings can end;
- And work with entire leadership team to organize events, including fundraisers, outreach, and competition events.
- Article VI – Elections
- Standard elections will follow these procedures:
- The club will hold the election of officers once per semester;
- Voting will take place by secret electronic ballot;
- Members in good standing, according to the Secretary, can vote electronically, even if absent.
- Interested candidates must prepare and deliver speech to be placed on the electronic ballot. Speeches will be video recorded and shared with absent members to allow them to vote.
- Special elections will follow these procedures:
- An elected leader can choose to step down, resulting in a special election for that role following the standard election rules;
- Previous candidates, starting with the runner up for that position, are offered first choice for the role, and end the special election if accepted;
- And if all new candidates come forward, the special election will follow standard election rules.
- Article VII – Amendment
- A two-thirds majority vote of the members in attendance is required to amend this club constitution.
