Welcome to English as a Second Language at Chinook Middle School! My name is Miss Lee and I currently teach newcomers to advanced. I strive to create a welcoming environment where English Learners can build confidence and comfort using English. My focus on the whole child honors the rich cultural funds of knowledge our students bring to Chinook. I believe building strong bridges between school, families and community is key to the success of every English Learner and look forward to partnering with you to make that possible.
I received my Master’s in Teaching (2013) and endorsements from Saint Martin’s University in English Second Language, English Language Arts and Mid-Level Humanities. Earlier degrees include a Master’s in Business Administration from Seattle University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UW, Seattle. Prior to joining Chinook, I taught ESL at Saint Martin’s University’s summer program, served as UW Adjunct Professor in visual communication and worked 15 years in high-tech creative direction and product management. I’m proud to serve on Chinook’s AVID leadership team, our district’s Multicultural Advisory Council and I received my National Board Certification in English as a New Language in December, 2017.
