I am excited to be here at Olympic View Elementary, and am looking forward to a fantastic year. This is my first year here, but have taught for the past 14 years (mostly 5th grade). As a teacher, I believe, that my number one responsibility is to teach students how to learn. My classroom is one where we celebrate our accomplishments, learn from our mistakes, and encourage each other every day. Learning is about personal responsibility, a positive attitude, and never giving up!
I grew up in Spokane WA, and spent a lot of my childhood camping on the lakes of Northern Idaho with family and friends. Now I am lucky enough to live in Olympia with my son, and I couldn't be happier! We often go on local adventures: day trips to the coast, exploring new locations from Seattle to Portland, or just simply going to the movies. Many years ago I graduated from Eastern Washington University in Elementary Education as a Reading Specialist, then went on for my Master's in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University online. Now I take classes to enhance my teaching and/or just because it sounds fun!
